Philpost Delivers Calamity Checks

THE PHILIPPINE POSTAL CORPORATION has started to deliver Social Security System (SSS) special loan program checks to members affected by Tropical Storm Ondoy. The SSS Salary Loan Early Renewal Program (SLERP) will be sent via registered mail to members in the National Capital Region and Rizal Province. PhilPost letter carriers started to deliver at least 10,000 checks per day in the National Capital Region (NCR), including those who were hardest hit in Metro Manila. According to PhilPost NCR Regional Manager Bernardito Gonzales, they are thankful for the support given by the SSS like offering service vehicles to help postmen deliver SSS checks to its members on time. “We are utilizing the full force of our operations in the metropolis such as the Metro Manila Mail Distribution Center (MMMDC) stationed in the capital city”, Gonzales said. Previously, the SSS has encountered problems accommodating claimants and releasing the checks over the counter as thousands of members lined up at the SSS main office when the agency started to announce the program. SSS spokesman Joel Palacios said the agency has processed more than 60,000 checks of members affected by the recent Typhoon. Members can get their checks’ dates and numbers by calling SSS at 917-7777, 920-6401 and 920-6446 to 55. They can also inquire with their local mailman or post office about their checks after verifying the mailing date  posted at the Social Security System. Schedule of mailing is as follows: Check Date    Check Number Series    Mailing Date 08 Oct to 12 Oct    17038001 to 17053856    Monday, 19 October 13 Oct to 14 Oct    17053857 to 17071604    Tuesday, 20 October 15 October    17071605 to 17075354    Wednesday, 21 October 16 October    17075355 to 17078000    Thursday, 22 October 16 October    17092001 to 17100536    Thursday, 22 October 17 October    17100537 to 17110949    Friday, 23 October They can also visit the nearest SSS branch or log in to SSS website at www.sss.gov.ph.
