Marawi City – Senator and Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman Richard Gordon together with the assistance of Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) showered smiles and hopes during the household livelihood assistance distribution to 1, 238 beneficiaries at the Provincial Capitol Gym of Marawi recently.
“I am here, we are all here, and all of us are here to celebrate life. I came here not to be honored, we came here to honor all of you because you are fighters of your own dignity,” Sen. Gordon said.
PRC’s partnership with PHLPost and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the distribution of the household livelihood assistance worth Php10, 000 per beneficiaries covered 7 Barangays of Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur: Brgy. Calocan East, Brgy. Kilala, Brgy. Papandayan Caniogan, Brgy. Bubong Cadayunan, Brgy. Wawalayan Calocan, Brgy. Buganga, and Brgy. Gadongan became successful.
Also present during the distribution are International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ (IFRC) Operations Head Patrick Elliot, Chief Hospital Dr. Shalima Rakiin, IFRC Head of Delegation Chris Staines, ICRC Head of Cooperation Richard Villena, Lanao del Sur-Marawi Chapter Administrator Atty. Sittie Alliyah Adiong, Lanao del Sur Vice Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Al. Adiong Jr., Task Force Bangon Marawi Asec. Felix Castro Jr., Joint Task Force Bangon Ranao Ltc. Rosendo Abad Jr. and PHLPost Area Payout Team Chairman and Adfin Chief Clemencia Jarabe.
'It is a great honor to have serve our kababayans especially those who has been a victim of this conflict between the rebels and the military' said Jarabe.
Meanwhile, earlier this August in the same setting, PHLPost also assisted the ICRC and PRC in the distribution of Household Livelihood Assistance to the first batch of Marawi’s Early Recovery Project with 301 beneficiaries.
The 1-day payout team, distributes cash assistance amounting to Php10, 000 per beneficiaries that currently residing at Brgy. Mitantao with 83 benefeciaries, Brgy. Pagayawan with 79 benefeciaries, and Brgy. Papandayan with 139 benefeciaries at the Provincial Capitol Gym of Marawi City last August 1.
