PRESS RELEASE: PHLPost as registration center for National ID

MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) expressed support for the signing of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act which will provide a National Identification System for Filipinos.

Under the law, one year after its effectivity, PHLPost, along with other agencies of the government such as PSA Regional and Provincial Offices, Local Civil Registry Offices, Government Service Insurance System, Social Security System, PhilHealth, Home Development Mutual Fund, Commission on Elections and other government agencies and GOCCs as may be assigned by the PSA shall act as registration centers for the new ID.

The law also stated that these government agencies shall be included as members of the PhilSys Policy and Coordination Council (PSPCC), organized to formulate policies and guidelines to ensure effective coordination and implementation of PhilSys.

PHLPost is being recognized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the lead implementing agency, for their experience in biometric data collection, registration and card release.
