PhilPost will soon be reliable, trustworthy and efficient ".[/caption] The first female Postmaster General and CEO of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost), former three-term Bulacan Governor, Ma. Josefina M. Dela Cruz, assumed office last July 18 in a simple turn over ceremony after the regular flag raising at the Main Post Office Building in Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila. Postal employees expressed hope that Postmaster General Dela Cruz vast experience in public service will bring integrity and new vision to Philpost, which is a Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) and an agency directly under the Office of the President. “There are many challenges at PhilPost but they can all be overcome. PhilPost will soon be reliable, trustworthy and efficient”, PMG Dela Cruz said. For the first time in the rich history of the country’s postal service, it will bring in a new woman postmaster general to lead the agency. PMG Dela Cruz will bring with her a wealth of experience in government service starting at the early age of 21 when she was elected as the youngest councilor of Bocaue until she became the governor of the province. She calls her appointment as PhilPost head as her first as a government employee. The new lady Postmaster General has a solid educational background in Management Engineering (Cum laude, Ateneo de Manila University, 1980 and Psychology (Magna Cum Laude, Ateneo de Manila University, 1981).
