PRESS RELEASE: PHLPost brings back traditional Harana with Singing Karteros


The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) Singing Karteros (Letter Carriers) will deliver greeting cards, flowers even chocolates and other romantic items to love ones on Valentine’s Day while singing their favorite songs available at the iconic Manila Central Post Office Building in Liwasang Bonifacio.

The annual activity called “Love Express” brings back the good old days through the traditional “Harana”, the classic Filipino courtship of serenading a woman which is also the theme of this year’s special Valentine’s Day Postage stamps.

PHLPost offers the Singing Kartero Package worth P2,500, which includes a bouquet of flowers a greeting card, and two songs from the singing mailman.

Along with this is a stamp, designed by in-house layout artist Eunice Beatrix Dabu, that features the digital art rendition of the traditional “Harana”. PHLPost has printed 50,000 copies of the stamps to be sold at P12 each and another 400 pieces of limited edition official first day cover envelope for collectors.

The program is now on its 4th year and will run until February 14, 2018, features the Domestic Express Mail Package service of PHLPost where one can avail of the express delivery delivered on the same day while being serenaded by the “Singing Karteros”.

Aside from "Singing Karteros", there are V-day novelty items that is available in the Manila Central Post Office lobby, “Selfie” stamps booth and Date Night mini-concert in a romantic setting at the iconic pillars at the national headquarters of the Philippine post office in Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila.
