PRESS RELEASE: ASEAN Postal Business Meeting to be held in Manila

The 24th ASEAN Postal Business Meeting (ASEANPOST) will take place on November 6-7 in Manila under Postmaster General Joel Otarra of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and Pos Malaysia Berhad Group Chief Executive Officer (Mr.) Mohd Shukrie MOHD SALLEH, Chairman of this year’s ASEAN Postal Business Meeting.

The ASEAN Postal Business Meeting will be held at Okada Manila, New Seaside Drive, Entertainment City, Paranaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

It brings together the head of the ASEAN postal operators of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam to discuss issues affecting the region’s postal industry.

It was established in 1992 exclusively for postal administration in ASEAN countries with the objective of strengthening and coordinating ASEAN collaboration in the postal sector.

“It is important that we, postal operators work closely together. By forging closer alliances we can help mitigate negative effects brought about by the evolving postal market”, Philippine Postmaster General Joel Otarra said.

The ASEANPost enables the exchanges of information and experiences as well as best practices for postal reforms and business development activities among ASEAN countries.

In support of the Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017 of the Republic of the Philippines, the theme of this year’s 24th ASEANPost is ‘Partnership for Change, Engaging the World through Post’.

Delegates will discuss e-Commerce, Trade facilitation for micro, small and medium entrepreneurs and strengthening of postal supply chain and security.

This year, the ASEANPost in Manila coincide with the celebration of the 50th  founding anniversary of the ASEAN.
