fe

Not just mails, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) was tapped to deliver financial services and conditional cash transfer for the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) to calamity stricken families in far-flung town of Itbayat, province of Batanes.
The Red Cross in the Philippines has organized the distribution of grant and shelter assistance to beneficiaries in Batanes island who were badly damaged during the onslaught of Typhoon Ferdie (Meranti) last year. So far, more than 600 families have already benefitted in the program.
'With the vast network and familiarity of our postal workers, PHLPost can be an effective partner of public and private stakeholders to provide financial services and well being of low-income households', Postmaster General Joel L. Otarra said.
Aside from PNRC, financial inclusion stakeholders such as the International Red Cross, United Nations (UN)-World Food Program, the DSWD -Door-to-Door Delivery of Social Pension for the Indigent Senior Citizens Program, Save the Children, Inc. in the southern part of the Philippines and the international non-profit organization Oxford Committee for Famine Relief (OXFAM) has partnered with PHLPost to deliver cash assistance.
The dedication of the postal employees has somehow bridge the gap to deliver the assistance extended by these generous agencies.
