The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) celebrates National Stamp Collecting Month (NSCM) and postal awareness week by recognizing its corporate partners, stamp collectors and the media who have been patronizing the services of the postal service through the years.
The event was held last November 28, at Diamond Hotel in Roxas Boulevard.
PHLPost expressed its appreciation to Letter Writing Advocates, who has instilled and promoted the value of letter writing in the hearts and minds of the Filipino people.
Postmaster General Joel Otarra and board of directors chairman Norman Fulgencio handed the Letter Writing Advocates award to Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG) of ABS-CBN, UNTV’s “Good Morning Kuya” and the Philippine Star.
The postal service recognizes the three award winning institutions for inspiring the public to express their ideas and stories through letters.
“I believe that the knowledge, values and information of our Letter Writing Advocates has inspired many Filipinos, especially the youth to engage more in letter writing activities that will not just communicate but also touch lives.”, Otarra said.
The three awardees were chosen for supporting the art of letter writing as an effective means of communication in their public service programs.
The annual event honors its corporate partners or customers who have been patronizing the services of the postal service. PHLPost awarded its top 12 corporate clients for 2016: the Social Security System, Banco de Oro, Commission on Elections, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Citibank, Procurement Service-Department of Budget and Management, PhilHealth, Department of Health, Sunlife Financial, Pag-IBIG, Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. and the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, stamp collectors will definitely be in for a big treat this year as the Philippine Postal Corporation is coming up with interesting features on its stamp program for both Commemorative and Special issues. A total of 14 stamps issues are programmed for January to December of this year.
Starting February, PHLPost will release special embellishment heart perforation and heart sheet to celebrate the seasons of love. Next year, PHLPost will also highlight the Asean 50th Commemorative issue and the Philippines chairmanship postage stamps and the 250th founding anniversary of the Philippine Postal Service. The celebration of national heritage month shall feature the Philippine sunsets using a special embellishment of luminous ink in order to emphasize the famous sunset in the country.
